Just after my high school graduation I found out about a huge group of my brothers’ friends that hung out in the Wal-Mart parking lot in town. Since I was big into sports in high school, I was also friends with a lot of the people my brother was friends with. I started hanging out with all of them most nights of the week with my best friend at the time. We were out one night just hanging out/talking when an unfamiliar Ford pick-up pulled up in the section of the parking lot we were all around. Two new guys got out of the truck and walked over to one of the guys from my high school & almost immediately after they got out of the truck, his cell phone started ringing to Sweet Home Alabama (I <3 country boys, so this caught my attention). I didn’t know much about DH that night, but he was wearing a Firefighter shirt that had the firefighters prayer on it and that caught my attention as well (side note: firefighting is HUGE in my family as almost every male member in my close family is a firefighter, including my daddy who is the assistant chief at our local department). I was much more outgoing then than I am now so I just walked up to him and started turning him around as I said, “Turn around, I want to read your shirt.” We didn’t talk much that night except I know I told him that I was going to be leaving for college in SC in a few days and I wanted to have a picture of us to take with me, so that was our very first picture together. The night/morning I was to leave for school we stayed out till around 4:30 a.m. or so, I had to rush home and load all of my school stuff into my car and head to SC with my family @ 6 a.m. That morning I left for school was when we became an official couple.

In 2005, a week long trip to Myrtle Beach was just what I dream of every year.

I adore the beach and God's beautifulness there so I was extremely excited about the vacation we were taking with his family! Jason's family is very 'busy' people and they plan things to do on vacations for most of every minute we’re there. So we had done all of the cool stuff the week we were there and our trip was winding down to that last day. None of us wanted to go home so we decided to stay an extra night. After the decision was made to stay, everyone ended up leaving except us. I should have known something was going on when it was his idea to go walking on the beach; this kind of threw me off because he doesn’t really care to walk on the beach as much as I do, but I still had no idea what he was planning. Once we were on the beach we walked a short distance and stopped to take in the view of the ocean and the crashing of the waves. Just as I turned to say something to him he had the ring in his hand and of course I said yes!

I bought my bands on Sept. 18 at the same local jewelry store that FI bought my engagement ring. I am so glad I decided to go there; they gave me $100 of EACH BAND since I was buying two! They are also going to sauter(sp) them together for me so that FI only has to worry about one ring during the ceremony! I'm very very excited. Now on to finding his...

I FINALLY got FI to the jewelry store today (Apr. 16) to get his finger sized! We also found a ring he liked in the store and ordered it today. It's a Benchmark (shown above) tungsten carbide ring. The real life ring isn't nearly as shiny as the picture above portrays. This particular brand has a lifetime warranty so if anything at all, no matter what, happens to it, we get a brand new one for no charge.
